Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra Presents
Roman Holiday
Karl Hirzer, conductor
Ryan Davis, viola
Shake off those winter blues and take a much-needed trip to Rome!
Podium partner Karl Hirzer leads the SSO in a musical journey to Italy featuring Saskatoon’s own Ryan Davis returning home to join the SSO for Hector Berlioz’ adventurous Harold in Italy.
After finding ourselves squarely in the musical language of Italy, the SSO walks with you through the Eternal City with Ottorino Respighi’s Pines of Rome. A musical photograph of areas of Rome that find themselves in the shades of trees, this work is amongst the most incredible and exhilarating ever written for orchestra.
This is a landmark night at the SSO, and one that will be remembered for years to come.
Ciao bella!
